Are Polynucleotides Safe?

Polynucleotides are a well-established injectable skin treatment when carried out by a trained, regulated medical practitioner. At HAVA Aesthetics, every treatment is planned and performed by Dr Hadeel Nimaa (GMC 7149019), and you will have a full medical consultation before anything is injected.

Risks and possible side effects

Most side effects are mild and settle within a few days. They can include redness, swelling or tenderness at the injection points, small bruises or lumps that usually soften and fade within days, itching or a warm feeling in the skin, and, rarely, an allergic reaction, an infection or a cold sore flare-up.

What to do if something feels wrong

Contact the clinic on 0344 967 0003 if swelling, pain or redness is getting worse after the first few days, if you develop a temperature, or if the skin looks unusually pale, dusky or blistered. Do not wait for your next appointment.

Who should not have polynucleotides

Treatment may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an allergy to fish or salmon products (many polynucleotides are made from salmon DNA), have an active skin infection, cold sore or inflamed skin in the area to be treated, have a bleeding disorder or take medicines that thin the blood, or have an autoimmune condition or are unwell on the day.
